And it was one of the best ones I’ve had in quite a while. Summers have always been difficult times for me. I am usually broke. I am usually lonely because my friends live far away. But this year I had a job that allowed me to save enough to get by, and my partner helped me, too. My friends came down to visit a couple of times, and I hung out with my partner’s friends as well!

While there were still lots of moments that I felt that summertime sadness, I got through it! I spent a ton of time with my sister (mostly playing video games), I went to the beach, and I got hired as an art teacher! It feels like things are finally falling into place.

You’re probably wondering why the heck I wore this sweater on a day that the temperature measured 90 degrees (32 Celsius). If you’re thinking I’m a masochist, you’re only partly right! I actually went to the hospital today with my grandma, so I wanted to wear something warm. She’s going to have surgery in a few days to remove her lung cancer. The whole family is very worried about how it’s going to go, though the doctors say there’s a good chance that it’ll go well since my grandma is otherwise healthy.

I’m going to try to enjoy this last week of summer vacation to the fullest. I have teacher training sessions to attend and lots of work to do, but you can bet that I’ll be staying up late, sleeping in, and binge-reading the Anne of Green Gables books up til that very last day!
